_x000D_Hurricane Ida pushed into Louisiana as a Category 4 storm on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021 (pictured), with 150 mile-per-hour winds, torrential downpours, and surf that swamped much of the shoreline under several feet of water. The utility company Entergy Louisiana reported that the storm knocked out power to the entire New Orleans metropolitan area. U.S. President Joe Biden declared a major disaster in Louisiana.
