What’s the 4-nation Quad?
The 4-nation Quad, Formally the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, is a strategic security dialogue between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. It began after the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami when the four countries joined together to provide humanitarian and disaster assistance to the affected region and was formalized in 2007. The nations regrouped in 2017 to counter China militarily and diplomatically in the “Indo-Pacific” region._x000D_
Who’s in 2022’s Quad?
_x000D_During the Tokyo Quad meeting on May 24, 2022, US President Joe Biden and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi met together for the first time with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who took office last October. It was also the first QUAD meeting for Australia’s new Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, who was sworn in just one day before the summit.
