Is Jin joining the military?

Under South Korea’s military law, Jin is expected to enlist in 2022 unless he receives an exemption. South Korea revised its military law in 2020 to allow top K-pop stars to defer their 2-year military service until they turn 30 if they’ve received government medals for heightening the country’s cultural reputation. All seven BTS members met the criteria as recipients of government medals in 2018. On June 14, 2022, BTS said they were taking time out to focus on solo projects.
