The original Hungarians were a mixture of which tribes?
Hungary’s far-right prime minister, Viktor Orbán, spoke against the “mixing” of European and non-European races in a speech on July 23, 2022, saying, “We (Hungarians) are not a mixed race … and we do not want to become a mixed race”. During his speech, Orban frequently nodded to the “great replacement” conspiracy theory, which falsely claims there is a plot to dilute white populations in the US and Europe through immigration.
Are the Hungarians a mixed race?
According to a 2020 study published in Archaeological and Anthropological Sciences, the original Hungarians were three tribes: Huns/Turkic, Finno-Ugric, and Caucasian. They were the genetic relatives of Asiatic Huns, Caucasian peoples, and Slavs. It should be mentioned that all nationalities are genetically mixed.
