What is the Sunshine Protection Act of 2023?
On March 9, 2023, The Republican Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, reintroduced the Sunshine Protection Act of 2023 to make daylight saving time permanent. The bill has bipartisan support in the Senate but hasn’t been passed by the House yet. Keeping the US on daylight saving time year-round would eliminate the need to change the clock twice a year and, according to supporters, would improve health, tourism, and energy. Daylight saving time in the US began on March 12, 2023, and ends on November 5.
