Where was the new Danish Queen born?
Queen Mary of Denmark, originally Mary Donaldson, hails from Hobart, Tasmania. Her journey from Tasmania to royalty is a modern-day fairytale. She met her prince charming, Crown Prince Frederik, during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to January 14, 2024, and Mary ascends as queen alongside her husband, King Frederik X, after Queen Margrethe II’s historic abdication. Mary’s Australian roots make her the world’s first Australian-born queen.
