The attack on Tyre Nichols on Jan. 7, 2023, led to five Memphis police officers being charged with second-degree murder and other crimes. By Jan. 31, 2023, two more Memphis police officers were suspended, and the Memphis Fire Department fired three emergency response workers for failing to assess Nichols’ condition._x000D_attacked Tyre Nichols with their feet, fists, and batons when he was pulled over at a traffic stop on Jan. 7, 2023. Nichols was described in a police report as an angry suspect who “>started to fight”> with officers, but a video revealed that officers approached his car with their guns drawn.
