Why did Donald Trump sue Bob Woodward and the publishers of “The Trump Tapes”?
On Jan. 30, 2023, Donald Trump sued Bob Woodward, claiming he didn’t have permission to release the interview recordings he made for the book “>Rage.”> The lawsuit says Trump agreed to be interviewed between Dec. 2019 and Aug. 2020 for a book Woodward was working on, but only for that book. According to Trump’s lawyers, Woodward and Simon & Schuster Inc. violated his copyright when they released “>The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews With President Donald Trump”> in Oct. 2022. Trump is seeking just under $50m in damages.
